This advanced course is aimed at people who not only have an interest in health and well-being but want to understand thoroughly how the body works and how to help the body recover from injury/illness and pass on this knowledge to clients. The course will also assist you to manage other staff and work closely with Medical Practitioners and Allied Health Professionals. The course would also be of benefit to people in allied health professions such as massage and physiotherapy.

Once you have graduated from the Diploma of Fitness you will be skilled in working in a variety of environments relating to the delivery of higher-level fitness training, sports conditioning and other fitness and health related activities. As a Fitness Specialist you will be involved in the planning and delivery of exercise programs for moderate risk clients in a range of unpredictable circumstances, working in conjuction with a suitably credentialed allied health professional and/or medical professional.

As a Fitness Specialist you are able to:

  • Work in a variety of health and fitness environments
  • Plan and deliver exercise for moderate risk specific populations in collaboration with and under the guidance and supervision of allied health professionals, eg. exercise physiologist, physiotherapist
  • Plan and deliver higher level fitness training, sports conditioning, dealing with elite athletes
  • Manage GP referrals requesting admission into and supervision within specific approved programs
  • Liaise with a range of other professionals from both the fitness and health industries, and engage in project management and health promotional activities
  • Carry out the functions of middle management, including staff management and training.

You are able to enrol directly into the Diploma of Fitness, however if you have not completed the Certificate III in Fitness and Certificate IV in Fitness (or equivalent qualifications) you will be required to complete these first. If you have already completed the Certificate IV in Fitness (or equivalent) you can directly enrol into the Diploma in Fitness.
