At AICA you will gain practical, hands on experience in the workplace as well as in the classroom.

The Diploma of Community Welfare Work course consists of two years study with a 400 work placement consisting of 2 placements in different community areas of 200 hours each.

CAREER OUTCOMES:

The Diploma of Community Welfare Work will equip graduates with comprehensive skills and knowledge to work as a professional welfare worker in the community services industry.

The Diploma of Community Welfare Work comprises theory and practice work. The course covers case, group and community development work.

Diploma of Community Welfare Work graduates will be equipped for employment in many areas across a diverse industry. Industry areas include, youth, mental health, families, children, case managers, disabilities, crisis care and employment services in roles such as, Advocacy and Representation, Community Development, Networking, Research, Counselling, Group work and Case management.

 

The community welfare sector provides graduates with a wide variety of career opportunities. The course has national accreditation, which is recognised throughout Australia

 

Opportunities for further study exist for graduates who may be eligible for credits in other specialist Certificate IV and degree courses. Students can negotiate these with the relevant institutes.
