PROGRAM OUTLINE:
To be awarded the qualification students must achieve competency in the 12 Core Units and 2 Elective Units. The topics are as follows:
Assessing Training:
How to assess a person’s competency against nationally agreed industry standards. By the conclusion of this section you will be able to confidently plan, organise, conduct and validate assessment tools and interpret Training Packages.

· TAAASS403B Develop Assessment Tools
· TAAASS404B Participate in Assessment Validation
Training Delivery Skills:
This part of the program is designed to provide new trainers with the skills and knowledge to plan and present effective and interactive training sessions, and the opportunity to practice and develop these skills. As the focus of the program is on the delivery of training participants will deliver practical sessions to the group.

Design Learning Programs:
How to design, develop and evaluate learning programs to meet the needs of clients based on industry Training Package guidelines.

Setting the Environment for Workplace Training:
This part of the program is designed to address the national competency standards
to work effectively in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) System. We explore issues in working with a range of people with diverse learning needs and how to ensure a healthy and safe learning environment.

LEARNING STRATEGIES:
The qualification is delivered via a combination of self –paced learning with or by workshops.
What is self –paced learning?
Between the workshops we will set learning and assessment tasks that you
complete at home at your own pace.
The services of a qualified PDT trainer or personal “coach” will be available to you
via email, web forum or telephone to support your ongoing learning needs providing you with one-to –one coaching and assistance.
The course facilitator will support you as a learner to achieve the objectives of the learning program.
About your Facilitator:
PDT trainers are very experienced and are selected due to the fact that they possess all of the following:
· Significant experience within the training industry
· A desire and commitment to help people achieve their goals
· Personally hold either the Certificate IV Training and Assessment (TAA)
Students are inducted into the program at the initial workshop by the course
facilitator ensuring that a full understanding of program and requirements to achieve the certificate qualification.
Workshops:
The interactive workshops will be held over a 3 month period. Attendance to these workshops is optional but we do encourage attendance as they provide you with an opportunity to practice your training and assessing skills and also have some fun the in process.

Time commitment - Apart from attending the 10 workshops students need to
allocate approximately 8 hours of study time per unit of competency.
Correspondence Course:
If you wish to complete the course by correspondence you will be issued with learning materials which have been developed by Australian Remote and Rural Training Systems. Each manual will introduce the unit competencies and outcomes to be achieved. If you require clarification or explanation of any of the activities you can contact your PDT trainer by phone or email.
HOW IS THE ASSESSMENT CONDUCTED?
You will be required to complete a range of assessment activities that will require
you to apply your knowledge and skills into either a real work site or simulated work-based training and assessment situation. These activities are usually project based with the requirements clearly explained to you. If at any stage you are unclear on
what is required your PDT trainer will be available to assist you. Also as the assessment process is competency based you will be able to resubmit your assessment if you are not at first totally successful.
RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL)?
YES! We encourage people to apply for RPL. You may be able to supply us
with evidence of prior training and learning undertaken by you that will gain
you Recognition of Prior Learning - RPL and Credit Exemption for some or all
of the 14 units of competency in this qualification. Once you have enrolled we
will organise a time with you to meet and discuss the recognition process further.
If you gain recognition in one or more units the fee we will be reduced on a
pro-rata basis.
DURATION:
Depending on your prior learning and experiences, the time required to complete
this course will vary from person to person. Someone new to the training industry
will take several months to achieve the unit competencies.
FEE: $2000.00
This includes all your learning materials, workshops and assessment for certification. However, your cost may be considerably reduced with RPL. For current holders of
the certificate IV in assessment and workplace training there is credit transfer for up to 7 units. If you are unable to attend the workshops distance learning/correspondence fee is $2000.00
