What are competency standards?
Competency standards are used around
as effective performance in the workplace. This includes the skills and knowledge you need
to do a job. These standards are divided into units of competency.
Units of competency match particular activities that people carry out at work. You could say
that your job is made up of several units of competency, and the Frontline Management
competencies describe some of the parts of your job that you do as a team leader,
coordinator or supervisor.
Collecting evidence for assessment
Most people have a lot of questions when it comes to assessment, so let’s look at how
assessment works.
First, assessment does not have to be frightening. In the Australian training system you are
able to have a real say in planning how and when your assessment takes place. When you
take an active role you will have more control over the process and the experience will
definitely be more rewarding, and relevant to the work you do.
Assessment means that you will work with your trainer or facilitator to collect evidence about
your skills and knowledge. There will be a range of assessment activities that you will
undertake during the course.
