Course overview

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response, life support, management of casualty(s), the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance

Prerequisites

The student must be over 14 years of age

This unit incorporates the content of units:

HLTCPR201A Perform CPR

HLTFA201A Provide basic emergency life support

Nominal Duration

Option 1: Blended Delivery: NSW 5 hours (South Australia 8 Hours) face-to-face training following completion of a workbook or web based facility prior to attending the practical first aid session.

Options 2: New South Wales 15 hours of face-to-face Training. South Australia 18 hours of face-to-face training.

Assessment Criteria

Throughout the course participants must demonstrate competency during a series of practical skills evaluation and written assessments, which include the following:

Awards Issued

Statement of Attainment - HTLFA301B Apply First Aid plus a plastic wallet card. Legislative approval for 3 years from the completion date. Annual CPR training is recommended
