Program Content:
This program is designed to teach students the fundamentals about the interrnational trade process and the associated responsibilities; liabilities, for importers/exporters.
Throughout this program students will learn the essential facts they need about the world of international trade, and will equip potential importers/exporters to move (with customs brokers and freight forwarders) toward the culture of partnership and cooperation with the Australian Customs Service and other regulatory authorities. Program Topics Include: Parties in International Trade Customs Brokers Functions and Responsibilities Australian Customs Service functions, responsibilities and authority INCOTERMS – what they are, the obligations and risks involved Logistics in the international movement of goods – Airfreight & Sea freight Documents required in International Trade Banking, Finance and Insurance for international trade Customs Clearance Declarations Australian Customs Duty and recovery by Posts, Protests and Penalties Australian Taxation Goods and Services Tax (GST) Government Schemes: Duty Refunds, Duty Drawbacks, TRADEX, Tariff Concession Orders and the Policy ByLaw Scheme Prohibited Imports/Exports and other restrictions NOTE: Program will run 8 x Wednesdays, 6.00pm to 9.00pm.
