Entry Requirements

Students must have a 7596 CERTIFICATE IV IN 3D ANIMATION DIGITAL EFFECTS, or equivalent qualification; 7872 CERTIFICATE IV IN DIGITAL MEDIA or equivalent qualification, with appropriate software skills; 7840 CERTIFICATE IV IN SCREEN or equivalent qualification, with appropriate software skills; or appropriate work experience. Training Program Information

The program is designed for students interested in a career in the TV, film, broadcast, game development, and digital media industry. This program provides students with the opportunity to develop advanced and specialised skills required of people working in the 3D animation and digital effects industry.

This program explore the process behind creating quality 3D animated stories/promotions and effects, and extends student’s skills in the production, composition and integration of 3D animation in live action. This program also teaches students skills and knowledge in efficient software and production practices as well as basic MEL scripting used in the 3D animation and digital effects industry.

Throughout this program students will learn how to develop customised marketing plan and how to pitch a proposal for a project concept so they are best prepared for entry into the industry. This program also introduces students to the communication skills needed in the industry such as customer liaison skills, effective workplace communication and negotiation and how to relate to clients.

Students will also gain an insight into the animation and digital effects industry including how the industry is structured, sectors of the entertainments industry, possible career paths, and legal and copyright requirements. In addition, students will learn about the occupational health and safety issues relevant to the animation and digital effects industry.

On successful completion of this program students will have produced an animated project and authored DVD as a showreel as samples of their work which will be essential in securing employment in the industry.

Develop and implement UVs and textures in the 3D environment
Develop and implement rig in the 3D environment
Develop and implement organic materials in the 3D environment
Develop and implement dynamic effect and simulations in the 3D environment
Develop and implement match moved footage in the 3D environment
Develop and implement render pipeline
Develop and implement elements to be composed in the digital composition environment
Collaborate with colleagues in the production process
Utilise and arrange elements in the digital editing environment
