AN opportunity for Papua New Guineans in various professions to receive various Australian recognized qualifications through internet was launched in Port Moresby on Tuesday 27th May 2008. This opportunity is being made possible with the partnership of Accredited Online Training(AOT) based in Cairns, Australian and Daltron, a PNG Information and Technology company. AOT has been offering online courses since August 2003 and now have 4000 students in Australia and other countries studying to obtain various qualifications in business management, human resource, computing, building, self improvement, safety, general interest and professional advancement. Australian High Commissioner Chris Moraitis when officiating the partnership at the Australian High Commission said that such partnership is important for service trade relationship between both countries especially education services such as online education known as elearning. “Rapid changes in training and the workforce mean that information and communication technologies will increase their role dramatically in terns of teaching and learning, while pressures to stay competitive drive companies to increasingly focus on the latest technologies, including elearning.” AOT project development manager, Paul Lange said that they are targeting employees of various profession only and not school leavers. Meanwhile, Daltron’s national sales & marketing manager, Graeme Ridler said they hope to offer online course within six months time. |
